Rygar is a kind of platform/action/RPG hybrid, and it's pretty good in all areas really, the sequel on the PS2 is really good too.

Another great Capcom game from a disney license, this time based on their Megaman series' gameplay style.

Fantastic top down shooter with excellent music and presentation, the whole game is very high quality but may be too hard for those not familiar with the genre.

Another great Sports game from the people that made River City Ransom and Nintendo World Cup (the latter of which unfortunately just missed the top 100, blame my moaning friends)

Faxanadu is a really nice platform-RPG with a look and style of it's own, fans of the genre should check it out (if you haven't already)

Snow Bros is a Bubble Bobble alike game thats a joy to play in multiplayer, but is now a bit expensive to buy unfortunately.

Another good RPG from Enix that was released too late in the N.E.S lifespan and ended up becoming quite rare.

Capcom with yet another quality platformer, they really were prolific in those days, churning out great games one after the other.

Cool puzzle game thats very addictive and easily deserves to be in this list.

All time LEGENDARY horizontal shooter, only beaten by it's own sequels.

The first ever Final Fantasy game, it all started here, and this was the only N.E.S one that received an English Translation originally.

When I was a kid, in my eyes this set the benchmark for sports games, humiliate your friends by scoring loads, then beat the hell outta' their players just to rub it in!

A great, hard to explain strategy game, that incorporates elements from tetris, as well as more standard shoot-em-up action elements.

It's from the Contra series, and like all Contra games it rocks, need i say more?

Take Gradius, then infuse it with Japanese style wackyness and you've got Paradius, it still retains all the playability of the Gradius series but adds a bit of colour and humour.

Kind of like Megaman with a boomerang, never a bad thing.

You can tell why Bonk was Hudsonsoft's original mascot, he's an easily recognisable character who has some fantastic over the top animations that really help to give him personality. Gameplay wise the game is first rate.

I still remember playing this game in the arcades as a kid, I always loved the style and gameplay, it was great the first time I realised I could push the enemies off their flying platforms and steal them myself. The NES version is every bit as good as the original arcade too.

It may not be a real Mario game (this was actually a redesigned unrelated game originaly) but it's still a pretty fun, solid platformer, it does lack that certain Mario feel though.

Great little action RPG that has absolutely nothing to do with the movie, the game is very nicely styled and is a little reminiscent of the Mana series.
